Wedge Stopped by floods
Discussion
Well having passed through water deep enough that I could feel it slapping on teh bottom of the car, I think it was over the sills car it was still going. Then about 3 miles down the road miss fire and stop. Get out check everything
1. Spark OK at coil lead all is dry.
2. Remove cold start injector pipe pressure present and crank engine petrol from hose so pumps working
Eventually remove distributor cap and its soaking inside with water dry it and car starts
I am now trying to work out how water got on the inside of the cap and the outside was dry
Any ideas?????? Preferably sensible but all is welcome

Condensed steam from the manifolds operating underwater. It would rise to the highest point allowed, which is pretty much the distributer. Thats my guess anyway...1. Spark OK at coil lead all is dry.

I got stuck in the Mondeo yesterday as well, the water I went through the Wedge would have floated
Made it through Grazely Green in about a foot of water and it died in about 3 inches
Pushed it out and then waited 10 mins tried it again and it started but very rough, so must have swallowed water as loads of steam coming out the back. Eventually tried it again and it went a bit smoother but sluggish. Drove away and it finally became respnsive again but still pouring out steam
Seem's ok now, but for a moment there thought I'd hydrolocked it up. Glad its a diesel and anyway it's going back next week
That was all after getting stuck in a muddy festival field and being pushed out
Hope ET is not underwater next weekend
as it will only be the WSV there and the odd 4 wheel drive

Have you "flooded" it?

Sorry - I'll keep quiet
I know you say you have fuel but if running through deep water, then your fuel pump could easily get submerged. Might be worth a look.
Could water have gone up your exhaust? If burnt fuel can't escape, your engine would choke and die.
