As above really, I don't have a clue about these things and was wondering if the number plate XJ15455 was worth advertising?

I've seen various valuations on some of the online services for similar plates but these don't seem particularly trustworthy or consistent

Any thoughts appreciated chaps smile

Are you sure it's not "XJI 5455"

Ah yes could well be. I thought that 'I' was one of the letters they missed out, but looks like I was wrong. Does this make it an Irish plate?

Just to be pedantic - it makes it an Northern Irish, not Irish, plate.

It might be worth something to an XJ owner, and it has the advantage that if you live in GB your neighbours won't be able to figure out the age of your car at a glance (as that seems to be important to some people) but to a number plate dealer it's just another NI plate and probably not worth more than a couple of £00 to the owner, after the dealer has got his costs and profit from any sale. A sale could take many months too, or you could just be lucky.

You could try entering the details into the various dealers' websites. Some give you an instant quote. Some of these will be unrealistically high just to get you interested, but others are more realistic and will even say if they aren't interested in marketing your plate.
