Bluetooth connection on G?

Recently swapped mobiles and using work supplied Nokia E61.
Previously had no problem connecting the phone to the car. This one just does not want to acknowledge any bluetooth connectivity with the g, so tried with my daughter's LG chocolate and that won't connect either, so am starting to think I must be missing something in the process. Have reset the car to default but still no luck.
Any suggestions what might work or do I just happen to have 2 phones which are not compatible with the system?
