£3000 to insure a vxr8! is that right?
Discussion
just been on the phone to adrian flux who i was recommended to try and apparently at 28 yaers old with a clean licence and 2 years no claims they would want £3000 to insure me, now at an estimated guess i think thats taking the piss a little, or is that what id be looking to pay or should i say get ripped off with?
I'm about to go legal with AF. I can't go into details but ripped off is an understatement. Try Footman James. I have had a 770hp nitrous powered Ultima GTR with mods, declared for less than £1k and that was also with an agreed value of £50k .
AF quoted me £1200 for my battered up 92' BMW 730i work-horse, which I had previously had insured for £228 - go figure. I wouldn't touch them with a 300ft triple-insulated cattle prod.

I have two insured with AON 01384 552788, two with Stevensons http://www.stevenageinsurance.com (again 6points on licence made no differece at renewal)
Will get a quote from a-plan when any come up for renewal, seems quite popular on here

I've only had a quote from Tesco.com although I'm sure a-plan would have been cheaper as a-plan are cheaper for my current car.
I'm 27, no accidents but have a SP50 (exceeding a motorway speed limit)on my licenece which resulted in 0 points but a 2 month ban. The area I live in is considered a reasonably low crime area. The quote from Tesco.com was £1050

2004 Holden Monaro 5.7litre V8
Agreed value $50,000, FULLY COMPREHENSIVE
Kept in Forrestfield WA (middle/working class suburb)
2 named drivers, both 17yo with 0 years experience.
Annual premium $4,250 (ie approx £1770)
Nobody has ever given me a satisfactory answer as to why you pay so much more in England.
Remember, in WA
Roads are worse
Cars are more expensive
Driving standards are FAR worse

Admiral-I pay £515 on a multicar policy, (although 15+ years no claims, no points, and 46 yrs old). That includes 17k miles a year including business use. A single car policy probably adds 5 or 10% to that, but even so I have found them consistently the cheapest for several years and on different cars.
Elephant are similar although they don't do multi-car.
Never had to make a claim so cannot comment on how good or bad the service is though.
That is on a Monaro 6.0VXR with Wortec performance pack declared.

try elephant.co.uk, they're quite cheap and love modifications.
I maybe wouldn't go as far as saying that they love modifications, £110 to add an exhaust system to a 6.0L VXR, is decent compared to other insurers but still isn't a £15 admin charge.
G
They only charged me £30 for my exhaust system?

They may have changed their policy or it maybe to do with me being a young driver (23 years old).
This was also only a quote over the internet and not over the phone, if that makes any difference at all....

I can't actually remember my premium (due October) - but it was around £800. 28 years old, 8 years no claims, one accident.
A Plan couldn't help me (waaaaay off) but maybe they can this year! I'm with Admiral or someone under their umbrella. Had my accident with Elephant and they won't insure me any more

Elephant will only accept modifications which increase the BHP by up to 25%, So the FI boys may struggle - I did with Tilers old car !!
I am sure it was nothing to do with Kylie's write off !!
