hello. im looking at a few chims at the moment, what do you think about high milaege cars, i.e. 80/90k ? is it fair to say that if the service his. is good then will the car have been pampered? most of these cars get looked after anyway, but whats the general opinion on this ?,

Thanks
Paul

Hi I have just brought a chimaera with 81k on the clock smile it has full service history and a lever arch folder full of all the bills, mots etc.

As many will say buy on condition not necessarily on low milage. I would say choose your budget and look around at what you can get for your money. I looked at quite a few and go to know what was bad in a tvr and what I didn't like.

You could ofcourse use a car sourcer such as rob ingleby, or you could buy steve heaths book and learn about the cars yourself. Just be careful to understand about the chassis and other typical issues.

I would personally buy a higher mileage car in tip top condition, ( bar stone chips), than one with a lower mileage that has hardly ever been used.

Chances are with the high mileage route, you will find those that have been well looked after, but driven dailly, or those that have been hammoured.
Agree 100%clap go for the well maintained car over the "Carport Queen..lovely Americanism" anyday.

Most things are down to price but if the sacrifice of low mileage isn`t a problem for you there are some great bargains out there, plus with a low mileage car there`s always the strange compulsion not to drive it "too" much lest you harm its resale potential..oddnuts
