Hi guys

was looking through a magazine today and it mentioned that ferrari are building a car based on the old dino (I think) but it will compete with the porche 911 and bmw z4 and new golf gti, does anyone out there know if this project will go aheads or if it even exists, I saw pictures of the car and it looks awsome, I think it was in last weeks nuts magazine and we all know what there reputation is for telling the truth.

oh if anyone has pics of that particular issue please put them up for all to see
cheers guys

If my memory serves was this not just a very clever bit of photoshop work? There were a number of posts about this car a while back and how this picture was identical to a press shot of a red porsche cayenne:

Same here. Ferrari laptops, hats, perfume, shirts, dolls... The mystique is suffering as a result.

What's wrong with a £90k model? It wasn't all that long ago that you could get a new 355 for that... just because the "entry level" model has now gone well into 3 figures, why should there now not be a more affordable model ? £90k is hardly cheap and won't result in them being common-place.

hey all..... thanks to all of you who replied, I get the impression alot of people dont want it to be made, well I for one hope they do make the car, I will be curious to see how many people are in favour of the budget ferrari to others that are against the budget ferrari.

still like many people have said 90k is still out of many peoples budgets.

well we will hope and see
cheers

there are loads of car snobs about but you can be sure that ferrari will never make an entry lvl £60k car cos they dont need to. their customers will happily pay £90 to piss off bmw/audi wannabees

It'll never happen. Only recently Ferrari announced that they would never build a diesel car, cheap ncar or a 4X4.
I suppose it depends on your definition of "cheap"

Well, 8yrs ago anyway.

And I'm pretty sure the 355 was nudging the 100k mark when it ceased.

Even if it were bang on 90k, I'm sure that 90k would be worth more like 110k+ now. And at the time there wasn't the glut of machinery at the 70-90k level that there is now.

Can't see it happening imminently, but could see how they might be able to squeeze such a model in.

the car does exist and some people have already placed confirmed and yet unoficial orders. I think the people that have ordered already see it as a decent spunk about...somthing you can use everyday and not worry about milage or wear and tear.

never say never...

a dino branded car would very effectively fill the sporty gap between production alfa and entry ferrari in a way that maserati should have done but have never effectively succeeded. Dont forget that only a few years ago ferrari said they would "never" build more than 4000 cars a year (5,600 in 2006!!!).

I dont know that they ever mentioned "never" releasing a series of barbie dolls, so at least they havent broken that one...

You would certainly expect any new car to be built by Maserati - they have loads of spare capacity (and room), Ferrari have no spare capacity

I can't see the car being called a Ferrari, probably just Dino (just as the origional wasn't called a Ferrari)

As has been mentioned before, the strange thing is for a car that so many people have talked about not to have been spotted in any "Spy Shots"

Hi,

I have a picture of the car, send me an e-mail (info@privatecollections.co.uk) with your details if you would like to see it. They are going to bring out a Spyder version aswell but I think the price is going to be more around to £75k to £85k mark.

Let me know what you think of it.
