Inspired by the fabulous noise that a '95 Griff made after I help him bumpstart it at the weekend on Tring Highsteet, can someone provide me with a quick list of the TVR models - in order from the naughtiest to the most sedate. The reason I ask is because i'm interested to know which is the meanest - Griff or Cerb, for example - and where all the other models fit in, crossover, etc etc.
Cheers
Phil

If you wanted this topic to get really heated, you might have been better putting it in "TVR General Stuff & Gassing".

Im afraid that I am just not going to get involved in this one, as I can see it turning nasty. hehe
Seconded yes

Old versions:
Any M-series, wedges - 350i, 400, 450.

Some sedate, some a bit tasty. Take the number in the wedge, divide by 100 and that's your litreage

Mid-age:
S-Series - S2, S3, V8S

Good runners, not the quickest TVR's around but great value for money.

New & Newish:
Griffith & Chimaera - Both come with 4.0, 4.5 or 5.0 litre Rover V8 engines. Sound great, pretty damn swift and not overly expensive to maintain.
Tamora - Described as entry level (not that any TVRs are that!). Speed 6 engine, the closest to a rollerskate that TVR managed.
Tuscan - Comes in 3.6 or 4.0 litre straight 6 config. Makes sure it's had a rebuild if it's an early model. Bloody quick and handles well
Cerbera - 4.0 Straight 6, 4.2 & 4.5 TVR racing V8's available. The Cerbera is vicious. Not much to choose in speed between it and the tuscan. Some tuscans are quicker, some cerbs are. Depends on the car and the day.
T350 - Another straight 6. Looks a little plain if you ask me but another bloody quick car and will easily scare your passengers
Sagaris - The newest model. 4.0 Straight 6, looks straight from satans doodles and blazingly fast.

There ya go

To expand on Phil's question then, how about cost to run and reliability issues with different models ? V8's more reliable than Speed 6's etc ?

Just thought I'd ask as in the next 12 or so months I will be contemplating TVR ownership in some form or other. Heart tells me Griff 500 or Cerbera 4.5 (or 4.2) head tells me to bat for the other team as it were and go for a 911 paperbag (did I really just admit that) However heart usually over rules head in my case and a Tivving I shall go smile Also having driven all 3 at some point or another the 911 left me feeling a tiny bit disapointed (it was a 964) and was far less of an 'occassion'.

How does a Tuscan compare with the Griff and the Cerb ?

You should also consider the open top factor. Cerb is a mean looking car and is a fixed head coupe as is the 350.
Tuscan is a targa top with removeable rear screen so you get the added dimension.
Tuscan covertable is a full drop head as with the Tamora, Griff and Chimaera.

This is an each to their own thing but I like the added dimension of roof off.

We don't need another thread for this, just type 'which TVR' in the search box and you'll get dozens of threads on this.
Everyone has an opinion and it depends which TVR you own.

So buy a Griff 500 biggrin
