Went to take wedge out at about 8pm the other night, flicked lights on to check they worked, popped up okay so flicked them back off and reversed out of the garage, when I looked forward again one pod was stuck halfway down!

First investigation found no clicking or anything, a quick tap on the motor with a small persauder brought it back to life, however the pod then seemed to be stuck in the same position as the motor tried to turn it!

I have taken the motor out completely to have a closer look and found when you move the motor manually with the knob on the bottom there seems to be a sticking point, when you turn the motor upside down and turn the sticking point disappears!

Any ideas what might be the problem? Also has anybody got a copy of Wedg1e's article on servicing the motors, his website seems to be down.

The whole thing is now in bits on the bench and I have found that the nylon gear which drives the lifting arm has been stripped in one place by the metal screw drive from the motor. Does anybody know if you can get a replacement nylon gear and if so from where?

Is it TR7? I seem to remember someone in the dim distant past saying that TR7 pod motors are near identical but they had problems because they were not identical. I don't know either way but I'm sure someone does (Wedg1e?)

Not much help I know but it's the best I can do.

Best of luck getting it sorted.

The motors are the same as TR7. Not sure about the links, think they may be TVR specials.

I have some used TR7 headlight assemblies on the way by the weekend, not sure what I will do with all the bits I am not interested in but hopefully at least one of them will have a decent gear in it.

I spoke to all the TR7 part suppliers and they would re-con them, but they all said they send them away for recon and would not tell me where they sent them and could not supply the gear!!!

Apparently the same motor was used on the Aston Martin Lagonda!!!

If anybody wants other parts for the motors drop me a mail and I will let you know if I can help.
