Cerbera Suspension
Discussion
Just bought a 4.2litre 37K miler, and wanted new suspenders on it.
So, having read all the pro's and cons, I decided the following:
Ohlins/Nitron - overkill for the road, and gas needs short service intervals to work well. Don't need that much adjustment.
Bilstein uprated - I think 10 years is a long time for a set of springs, so wanted coilovers.
That came down to the age-old debate - Protech or GAZ.
In Protech's favour, Joo seems to know his stuff, and the price wasn't too bad. But Derek (GAZ dealer) spent 30 minutes on the phone and was very knowledgeable. So, I went to GAZ, for two main reasons - steel bodies, which I just feel are a better thing than alloy for that application, and price - £500 quid delivered for a set of coilovers with custom spring rates, and some geometry settings thrown at me for the installation is a good thing. To be honest, I don't think you'll notice much difference between a well set up Protech or GAZ system on the road. And if I was racing it, I'd have Ohlins. Accept No Substitute.
I'll fit them, then down to my local race garage for corner weighting and geometry setup.

This post has got me thinking about the same - does anyone have any idea of cost for the Gaz shocks (incl fitting / set up etc)
Cheers
GazM (i'm not related...although family discounts
)
The likes of Andy at APM would want about £650 plus VAT for supply and fit of the nickel plated version.Cheers

Fitting would take about 3 hours - multiply by your dealer's hourly rate. I pay £5/hour currently to my mechanic.
COrner weighting and geometry setup, I reckon another couple of hours.
£5 an hour for a mechanicCOrner weighting and geometry setup, I reckon another couple of hours.
, my kids won't even mow the lawn for £20 and that takes half an hour!jdening said:
