Hi,

Anyone had any dealings with Tower Porsche before (they are based near London/Tower Bridge)?

They have a beautiful 1974 replica 2.7 RS in stock for £14.5k. Didn't find out too much about it, but would like to find out a bit more about them before I enquire...

Thanks,
sb

Guy who runs it is Peter Nardelli - been around an awful long time and is a nice guy. Only thing I can add to this is that I work near there and do see the cars in their "virgin" state - i.e. just off the boat from the US. They generally exhibit all the signs of cars that have lived in a hot climate and if I were buying one I'd want to see it in that state rather than once it has been prettied up. An RS replica at £14.5k is not a bargain though.....

Cheers.

What are the kind of prices I should be looking at for a car like that?

hmmm - tbh that's probably the kind of money a trader would ask for such a car. These replicas are a huge minefield and it's more about their condition than anything else... having said that, a mint RS replica fitted with a 2.4T motor wouldn't be a lot of fun really.

What's interesting is you say it's a '74 car. That maans it may well be a G series impact bumper car - in which case you could be lucky and find it's an impact bumper 2.7 Carrera fitted with the pre impact bumpers...in which case it may be a nice unmucked about with car (the rear wings are already flared in these cars for a start). I'll walk past them today and have a nose - what colour is it?

I'm no expert but I do remember him mentioning impact bumpers...

Would be really great if you could have a nose around today - would appreciate it a lot. The car is white, parked in the "front row" under the arches between a black 964 (?) and a silver 356 (?).

If you want to take this offline my email address is:

Thanks again.

Hi, good luck with the car, I have a `74 Targa 2.7 Carrera its the same engine as the RS at half the cost.
`74 "G" series have the impact bumpers, have heard lots of diferent stories about the dealer, no better or worst than any other ?.
If you can get the chassis number, I could try to identify the car for you, or you could try the Register Sec. for 2.7 Porsches via Club HQ, a regular section discussing these motors appears each month
