When driving back to my old home town of Reading in Berkshire, On coming off the A329 to the Winnersh Triangle, there were loads of guys wondering about with full on yellow jackets looking at cars and writing things down as they went past.

They was one for each side of the road and a couple on the large roundabout doing the same.

The jackets did not have POLICE or anything on them and they did not have any measureing equipment.

Any ideas what they were doing? They were there from 8am until at least 5pm when i drove down.

I dont think it was traffic measuring coz they have devices for that sort of thing!

It was probably the county council doing a snapshot survey of traffic flow at a junction or types of vehicle using a stretch of road.

They usually do this so they can work out ways of making life less convenient for drivers and to introduce delays .......though once in a while there may even be a something positive in it for drivers.

Yeh they do it all the time round my way.

Usually a bunch of blue rinses wearing the yellow jackets, so unless the police have started recruiting OAP's as beat officers I guess you are probably safe
