The aircon in my Tuscan decided to conveniently forget how to blow cold air during my 2 week trip to France (thank God I could take the roof off!). Anyone able to recommend anywhere in the Cambs/Beds area for a re-gas? Thanks

Kwik fit are going a deal on regassing at the moment.

Whether you want those monkeys messing with the TVR is another matter.

Find a reputable company locally or even an indy Tvr shop, you just know Kwikshit will just make crap of your system dont you?i will give you one of the biggest problems with poor aircon service that is lack of oil during the re/gas this is followed by compressor failure shortly after,i have seen loads of these, you have been warned!good luckcooloh yes forgot to say the compressor is probably the most expensive parts of your system, hundredseek

Having had a quote from my local Honda garage for the wifes car for £200 to gas-up check for possible leak, and then top-up, I also checked around.
Eventually got a friend's son (who is a refrig' engineer)to do it - cost £20!!

The alleged low pressure was not that low....so no need to leak test. Then all that was required was the top-up. We started the engine, put the a/c on, and confirmed normal operation by feeling the return from the cabin exchanger was getting cold. About 1/2 hour - job done. The guy did mention the oil in the gas for compressor bearings - as previous comment.

I still can't beat £20 (did he dry the gas and put the right amount of oil back?) but I just got an offer called 'Breathe easy' from my local Honda dealer (but it looks like a Honda, rather than dealer specific, offer.
It's re-gas (with leak detection), disinfect system, replace pollen filter. £89.

Obviously you're very dependant on who's doing the job, but KwikFit's machine is all computer controlled - they just connect it up and it does the whole thing.
I guess they still need to select the right car (and it might not list TVRs etc), and connect it properly, but there's not too much scope for error.

I agree, I was just as worried about Kwikfit. However if you do an internet search, you'll see that due to their computer-controlled muppet-resistant recharge equipment, it's a pretty good deal.

Simon,

St Neots auto electrical do regassing (on Cromwell Rd), they've worked on a lot of TVRs in the past and should be able to do a good job.

How was France by the way?
