If a car ends up with a replacement engine for whatever reason:

- what has been people's experiences when it comes to buying (e.g. put off buying / jump at it?) and selling (e.g. are 1st time buyers / trade put off, act like they're doing you a favour and offer silly prices?); and
- how much, if any, of a discount do the cars sell for?

Had a thought on reading Kay's wet sump reliability thread for the 996 and general chat on warranties.

IMO for a 996 not much seeing as it's a reasonably common thing

Well I reckon if you (porsche) stick a new engine in a 2, 4, 6, or what ever age car under warranty it can only increase the value.
What would you rather have..a circa 2000 car with 60k on it, or a circa 1999 car with a brand new motor. I know where my money would be going!

I know this is probably completely illogical, but I wouldn't be able to help thinking if the engine needed replacing what else needs replacing. Either through bad craftmanship at the factory or driver abuse...
