Hi All

Has anyone had their Griff repainted or changed the colour scheme?

If so, any recommendations (for who to, or not to use) or advice as to the cost of doing such a job?

Many thanks,

DTC

Hi,

I did it during a body off LHD conversion the car was BRG but now a colour called Violet Dream over mystic black the paint is by Alsa and they have some amazing paints, check out their website www.alsacorp.com

this is my Griff out of the paint shop electirc lights, however in the sunlight is where it comes into its own, sadly no photo yet it flips between BRG and TVR racing purple.

I have had the work done in Singapore which kept the costs down (labour charges) the paint from Alsa which includes base coat (black) top coat (flip) and speed lacquer for the depth came to GBP 980 (inc P&P).

Car is coming to me in the Philippines after the headlight covers have been fitted.
Andy

Hi Andy. Nice! I don't think I'll get a deal like that in the UK :-( You'll probably have the only TVR over there! Well done!

Im in the proces of having a front end respray and it appears that the law was changed in March this year outlawing solvent based paints. As such my guys are having extreme difficulties matching the colour as new paints should now be water based.

This shouldnt be a problem for you though provided you have a full respray....

Thanks for the info :-) I want to use a prior TVR colour tho, so I may be unable to now :-( it's the orange colour you see on the newer Tuscans and Sags...

Worth sniffing around still I would have thought.

I would put a thread on General TVR as I think at least one of the ex works painters frequents that...

It is no problem getting the paint, but it does not keep, so it isn't worth having small jobs done as the paints have to be made up for each job. I wanted my wing mirrors resprayed & it cost £140 as they had to make up 2.5l of paint, the majority of which was then discarded!
Have since found a source of smaller quantities of paint for touch ups at http://www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk/ but they are moderately expensive. They can, however source just about any TVR paint you might desire.

Try 'Surface&Design Set up by 'Gerbil' and several other ex-TVR employees. They have my Griff at the moment. I've seen examples of their work and it looked stunning. I'll edit this post with my opinion on my car when I (hopefully) pick up my car later today biggrin

http://www.sportmotive.com/ did mine. Impeccable job - full colour change, doors, bonnett, boot lid, mirrors off etc. Excellent preparation, attention to detail and finish. Way surpasses the quality of the original paint. See Ian (Mr Sportmotive) or me (my car will be on his 'stand') at the Growl this year.

Some of the Orange cars (including mine) used a Lamborghini based colour. If you check my profile pic, it's Arancio Atlas Pearl and isn't a specific TVR colour. Looks stunning in the sunshine and would look great on a Griff.

Hi Paul. This is the colour I'll be after - 'Chameleon Orange'. I love it and the wife loves it even more (which is a real bonus!)

Can anyone give me an estimate as to cost for a full repaint?

Many thanks for all the info and help :-)
