Oh, what bliss. The Tamora, with actually very little wrong with it at present, out in the sun , roof off, country lanes.... does life get any better? Probably not.

However, quick stop off at a pub for lunch revealed a new TVR "feature". It's quite literally a sun trap! The car was parked in the sun, and the doors expanded in the heat into the bodywork so I couldn't open them again! Paintwork knackered with the doorsills back down to fibreglass but at least managed to get back into the car 'cos fortunately I'd left the roof off (few presses on the door release button with a lot of tugging and I was in....)

Anyone else had this? Or is it just me? And if i get the dealer to adjust the door back a bit will it just result in getting very wet inside next time it rains?

But then again, who the hell cares.... what a great car, and what great weather.... what a combo! Love it.

That's a new one on me - you are obviously a Dukes of Hazzard fan! Hope it gets sorted soon.

If the FG doors had expanded to press against the FG bodywork there's no amount of door adjustment, short of grinding FG off the doors, that'll fix it. Move to a cooler/wetter climate such as N. Ireland!

What are TVR to do - they get the shut-lines down and then this happens. Back to Griffith/Chimaera size shutlines.

OK - the doors are fairly easy to move forward. The hinges are mounted on plates held by 6mm Allen bolts in the footwells. Remove the carpet from the footwell side wall, to expose the bolts. Loosen the hinge plates slightly and tweak the door by joggling it up and down down slightly on the trialing edge, whilst pushing it forwards. It should move the door a few millimetres. Gently close the door to check the latch alignment, and if you're happy, tighten up the bolts and job done! (Hopefully...)

Or get your dealer to do it

I understood it was the door-sills that suffered - paint removed - no amount of lateral adjustment at the hinges will cure a vertical expansion problem. IMO of course.

Oh, dear, so tempting...but, no.

spenny, I know of no other car where this has happened. My car has been out in the same weather, with no expansion problems, so I suspect it must be the hinges moving slightly. you didn't hit any major ruts or jumps did you? Were the doors rattling?

The doors dropped slightly on mine (quite common, apparently) and started to catch the door jamb, mainly around the lock, and further down towards the sill. I posted the solution after watching Joolz re-adjust the sticking doors 2 days ago. Took him 5 minutes! That's how I know how it's done. I think it will work with yours, and won't lose contact with the door seals.

Errrrrr..... given my utter cack-handedness, I think this might be one for the dealer! If I try it, I'll probably end up with both doors on the floor!

I have a slight rub on the passenger door. There's an allen key head or seomthing that's just proud, but sprayed, on the flat of the door that's just rubbed the frame above the lock strike plate. The car's back to TMS on Thursday, I'll add it to the growing list of things for them to do.

This is interesting ....

Both my doors are rubbing slightly just above the catch which I'm hoping to get fixed when it gones in for service in a few weeks. I'm wondering whether this is a result of a slight expansion as I have looked at it very closely a number of times and it doesn't look like it rubs. I have seen a number of cars with the same issue. I may see if there is any vertical movement in the door when I get home this evening, as it could be hinge related, although the paint hasn't cracked in that area.

On mine it's definitely heat. The door is fine again once it's been in the shade for a while. Out in the sun, it gets stuck again. Must remember not to leave it in the sun without the roof off!!!
