Is it possible to remove this

The plan was to use some of the spare leather from the doors to re-trim it.

I've removed the nuts and washer below it but I can't get it to move.

It appears to be glued in place.

Any ideas?

Pretty sure that panel is all one part and connected to the lower half of the dash.

In other words.... No. Sorry. frown

I'm sure I read on one of the posts on here that someone removed it and re-covered it. It does look like it should come off.

Obviously I missed something.

I've had a look and can't find anything that related to the bit I'm after.

AS for it being part of the tunnel / dash panel, it sits on the big panel and is held in place by 2 x M6 bolts.

I've removed the nuts and washers off the underside but the pad itself won't move.

It appears to have been glued in place.

I don't want to force it any more in case I break something, hence the post on here to see if someone else has managed to remove it.

Sorry, I don't know how it comes off, but I know it does because I had mine recovered last year - it was done whilst at Horizon Motorsport who might be able to tell you how to get it off? Hope this helps.

I've seen this recovered, plus covered with GRP in the same colour as the car, not the most comfortable option.

yeah sorry, bit misleading. The site does site that other bits such as vents are glued it (the centre console) - bet the bit you're trying to move is too. Can you get down near a bit that won;t show maybe by the bolster and get something blunt in there with a bit of force?

I'll have another go at it this evening.

If it looks like the glued bits can be prised apart without causing damage I'll give it a go.

I just reckoned a splash of colour would brighten up the interior.

Update time .....

Well there's really nothing to add.

I've failed miserably to get it out of the car.

It does look like it should come out and, having used a strong hairdryer on it, the adhesive did seem to be softening but not enough to get it to move.

I know it's a small thing, but it's annoying me as, now that I can drive the car much 'til I get new brake discs for it, I now have a chance to get these little "tidy up" bits done.

Any further ideas, anyone, as to how it can be moved?

And no pictures of jack-hammers, explosives or similar please wink

Here goes. The elbow rest is secured in place by four 8mm nuts along the lower edge. You need to remove the helmet holder first, then lift the whole center consol by about 8 inchs. This should be enough for you to get a spanner in along the lower edge to get at the nuts.

You will probably find, that you need to keep prising the rest up and down once you have undone the nuts.I had to do this with mine,as the studs in the rest had worn in to the fibre glass on the tunnel.

It should work. They are not glued in place, unless done so by a previous owner.

I've removed two M6 nuts and washers from below the tunnel and a self-tapper from the RHS already but the pad will not budge.

It must have been the work of a bored previous owner that's got it stuck in place.

Idle hands, eh?

There are four nuts along the lower edge.If you lift the consol and run your hand along you will find them.
