I've noticed there are hairline cracks in my exhaust manifolds where the two end cylinder pipes meet in a V. Is this bad? What are the consequences of leaving it? I can make a weld repair but will it last? What are my options for replacement?

unfortunately replacement aftermarket manifolds are big bucks, the cheapest are from ACT and are around a grand I think, others go up to 3500 I am told for custom jobbies! I've been told that the best best is to take yours off and have them fully inspected and welded up, if you were to get another set from breakers the same thing will probably have to be done again on those at some point. Labour costs will be high as engine needs to be released off the mounts and levered from side to side to get access to remove.

Ive just had my manifolds welded again. I think the time is approaching for a replacement. frown

What I need is someone who has deeper pockets than I, and purchased an ACT manifold (for power reasons) and who wants shot of a used, but perfectly useable standard manifold smile

Where's that HarryW when you need him? wink

Just ask Paul and Co, my standard ones are off the car very soon and will clutter up the garage as I'm not taking them home.

Nick, did you have the manifolds taken off altogether and welded or done in situ? If so what was the cost like in labour?

or maybe one kind old soul could donate a spare set to the group and we could all chip in to use a useable pair as loaners/swapouts while we have ours sent off and repaired properly??? That could work as I think there are a few of us out there in the family with the same problem....

Done in situ. Austec charged me for an hour's labour. Seemed reasonable smile

You'll have to check with Paul as he may have plans for them though. If he does hand them over (assuming he's back in office) then Austec have a charity they donate the money from their open days etc so split it between yours and that.

I might have a spare set in a couple of weeks, I've been quiet lately, got a few things on the go with the Cerb.
