Just back from a drive I wish I had'nt made. Got a bit giddy in second, pinged it off the limiter and lit up the dash with nasty messages! Now got service indicator up, slightly rough idling and a top end ticking from drivers side bank. Want to chop my right foot off n cry! Greens, Monkfish, anybody, tell me it will be ok!

Difficult to say, but, ticking noises are never normally good. Needs to be checked to see what the error codes are, ticking might be always there but you never normally listen that intently listing for things that may be wrong!!! Any dealer can plug Tech2 in to check the codes!

Thanks Greens, does it store error codes for a while cos when I bought it the service indicator was on then. It was fresh from a service at a non Monaro dealer and I just assumed they did'nt know how to cancel it, so with BOSS VXR's help I cleared it. The tickings not loud but def there and the idling's changed too, slightly rougher!

Thanks Splatspeed, should'nt be able to over rev it with a limiter should I? Though I'm grateful for your advice. Would have thought the design would accept that kind of abuse, I cant be the first to hit the limiter!

Sounds like Bent push rod or valve spring or rocker arm.
Could be holding valve open and messing up lamba sensors........

Hope that helps

Depending on what happened as mentioned, pushrods do bend. Usually from missed 3-4 shifts becoming 3-2 shifts.
Taking the rocker covers off doesnt take long, maybe 30min each side. You should be able to see a bend pushrod, broken valve spring etc. Though some issues might be harder to spot.
.. then again, maybe its nothing smile
But your rough Idle suggests something physical might have changed.

Thanks Ringram, you say a bent rod should be easily seen? would I see it with the rod in situ?
