I saw a thread in the P&P a month or two ago, with some pretty cool miniature figurine paintings, quite impressive. Now this is a bit of a cheeky post, but I was wondering if anyone here would like to paint the driver chap inside my hornet. Id rather do a good job or not at all, but dont see the point in buying half a dozen tins of paint just for this one tiny driver head. Besideswhich, Id probably do a shite job anyway hehe

I love my new hornet cloud9 and would be chuffed to bits to have a properly painted driver.

Would anyone actually like to paint him? ears

I would be happy to do it, but there may well be folks around here who are better than me. I have got some photos on the home PC of the last figure I painted (Forgeworld, sold for £80 on ebay) and I'm curently painting a 10in tall "Guyver" when I get time. Will post a couple of pictures up later on.

Im hesitant to mail you, as it looks like you run a professional little proper model painting business, and I wouldnt expect any business to do me a favour for free, unless I had something to give them in return. Unless you fancy meeting up for a beer, in which case I'll buy biggrin

Cheers CivPilot - you should post some of your work. Squash, your models are awesome!! Thats one hell of a lot of detail, how long did they take each?

Ah, sod off. biggrin

Send it over. It's amazing what an evening messing around with iWeb can knock out web page wise.

Drop me an email and let me know what you're after. On the house.

well the first one took over a year, but that cvos i stopped painting it for a large period of time. On average i reckon i would put out a "top notch" (my standards) figure in about 5-6 hours. But it feels like ages becasue i usually don't paint for more than an hour at a time in the evenings.

A before and after photo would be amazing, the detail is quite something. Just how big are the models?

the figures are approx 28mm scale, some stuff is taller depending on what it is, so some of the very fine detail is tiny! I can't find a before and after atm (at work) but i'll try to hook out one at home.

i also do the odd vehicle as well

i use a product known as Mig pigments

http://www.internethobbies.com/seofpi.html

you can brush them on or mix them with water and wash them on, the link describes how to use them, gives a great effect, and adds a better sense of usedness (if you catch my drift) even on sci-fi stuff.

this is a great source of info: http://cs.finescale.com/forums/

and these http://uk.games-workshop.com/goldendemon/2006-seas... make my painting look like a beginners!

Whats amazing is how little people are willing to let their work go for, considering the amount of detail/time that seems to have gone into many of those models. What aspect of model stuff (build/paint/drive/fly etc) are you into Rich?

RedfireCracker has finished painting Mr Hornet driver, he looks brilliant! The tamiya hornet logo he made is just 1mm high! A most excellent Job. I'll post pics when my hornet is 100% finished. I was going to finish spraying the wing and do the decals yesterday, but the local model store had run out of one kind of paint... the tamiya black poly irked

Thanks again for your help kelvin, Im really chuffed with the driver bow

hi bob,
sorry for the delay in replying.

Ive done all sorts of stuff.. to be honest this thread has made me get all my painting kit down from the loft and set up a workspace in my office.. big mistake as i was really waitng for my basement to be finished for it.

I used to paint anything that interested me. Ive always been into large scale Samurai figures. And anything that is well sculpted. My wargames interests limit me as I paint slowly and get distracted too easily.

I'd say that the people that are painting now are true artists, at the top. I used to guess that I was probably in the top 100 WW, but over the last 10 years I'd say top 10000 smile. I was never an artist... I was painting alot when I left School/college and it sort of became an extra income, I set up a special effects co and only managed to find any money in making LRP stuff and even then the money was dire.

I still have some pics of some banners i painted for a group at a big LRP convention from 1990/1991 ...
They make me cringe now.

I was in the model shop this weekend, and the painted aircraft models they had on display were stunning. Looking at peoples work here has inspired me to take model painting up, but it boils down to time - I just dont have enough right now. I am inspired to give it a go, and will definitely do so one day smile
