I took the HSV to bathurst last weekend, some of you may or not know this legendary Australian mecca of motor racing is actually a public road and you can drive around it outside of racing meets. Must admit it was a truly amazing experience, even if I was limited to 60km/h

Will make my trip for the bathurst 1000 in October all the more special!

Oh and there's a classic mustang photo in there which I saw at McDonalds first thing in the morning too

There is also a photo from the museum of the first ever car to win the Bathurst 24hr endurance race in 2002, which car? A monaro of course!

a 40mph limit?!? I hope sire had a momentary sticking throttle pedal so had to change up through the box?

They would make a fortune if they converted it into an unrestricted speed, tolled, closed road like Nurburing.
Even less forgiving though as I understand it.

I've done a lap of Bathurst and it is a truly wonderful circuit....

When you watch on telly, the dipper at the top looks quite daunting, but when you see it up close and personal, 'kin 'ell its a monster.

Shame about the speed limit though.... would be great if high speeds, even like 120 Kliks would be nice....

IIRC, people actually live on that road in the inside of the track... I hope they like motor sport.... any for sales up there?

Its also a mecca for the police - each time I have driven round I come across a patrol car.

Bathurst town is also a nice place to visit and the folk are great too.

I've gone for the grandstands this time mate, did GA last time and had a blast up the top of the mountain, but I'm a lazy sod so i'll be sitting down the whole time. Should be good, have a view of the mountain straight...

Wollongong geez thats a fair old pilgrimige, must have taken 5 or 6 hours at least?

Was a good 4 hour trip each way. Was absolutely stuffed. This time really just going to camp out somewhere and become feral and not have a shower.
