Hello - I have a late 390: I found the wiper blade on mine is the same as the rear blade from the Ford Mondeo, (from 2000 model year). The arm itself is from the rear setup on a mark 3 Ford Fiesta.

Hi

It is not being driven by the motor any more. They have a compatable key in the motor point and the bottom of the arm this is just turning in the hole hence not driving the wiper arm.

I replaced mine with the wiper arm from the bidet (rear wash/wipe) on a Fiesta (Mk 2 or 3 I think - the slightly rounded one) - works a treat and they tend to be a nice shade of black.

If you have no wipers, use "Rainex". Available in Halfrauds for about £6 or so.
If you apply it correctly (degrease screen beforehand etc) then you don't need wipers. Sounds a big claim to make but it works a treat.

bottom of the arm should either have splines or a conical hole if it is held on with a nut its conical if you can just pull it off its splines, kitchen foil will fix it for the fest just line the hole and force it on,take spare foil with you just in case

Going to try a proper fix today. But just to be sure its Rainex and tin foil on stand by.

To those of you going to the BBWF see you tommorrow.

Sounds like you've worn away the splines on the inside of the wiper arm pivot. The same happened to mine.

You could try screwing the retaining nut down hard - but this won't last long. Also - stick some silver paper in the hole - again won't last long but may get you out of trouble.

Apart from that, the Fiesta wiper arm is a super fit! Pop down to your local car spares shop - or even scrappy

Hope your right as that's what I'm relying on. My wipers have been broken for a while but I need to get at the small gearbox, which is a dash out/ heater out job.

Rain-X works great but only above 30mph or so. It's worth having even if your wipers work fine, because you don't need to use them, and everything lasts that much longer.

As long as you follow the instructions to the LETTER, then you won't have a problem. Tends to work best above about 20 mph but it does work really well.

As part of my green machine polishing I did the rain-x on windscreen, side windows, mirrors and lights too.

My technique is this:

1. Wash windows
2. Dry windows with a towel
3. Use kitchen towel to clean windows with meths
4. Dry off windows with clean kitchen towel
5. Then apply the rain-x, squirt it along the top edge and as the drops run down, work it in with some clean kitchen towel
6. Wipe off excess but don't wash windows, just leave it until it rains.

Works a treat.
