Friends, wondering if there are any vertically enhanced members here? I have sat in a V8 Esprit stock..and it wasn't happening. Wondering if anyone has tried racing seats bolted to the floor e.t.c.

Thank you so much,
Jordan

Im 6'3" amd i swear the esprit was not made for short people i have good view over the binnacle and i can fully depress the clutch with no problem, I wonder if short peeps have trouble getting the clutch all the way down... The seats are taller than any car i have see.. this is a comfortable tall mans car! (95s4s)

Hi Jordan, go to a good surgeon for a little chat then come back . Nah seriously there are quite a few tall people here who have taken spacers out underneath the seats, changed to V8 seats or similar racing seats. Some of them have bolted straight to the floor.
The other thing is to slant your seat right back with having the seat slightly forward, this makes you sit slightly lower, but very bad posture.
I am 5'7 tall and think I am a pretty good height actually. I certainly wouldn't like to be much taller or smaller for reaching the pedals etc. When I am at the track my helemt and I only just fit, if I tilt my head to the door side I smack my head on the roof. Tall people wearing helmets must leave their head on an angle or stick it out the window?
Long journeys are a bliss no cramping knees up round my ears, plus can see all the intruments very clear through the wheel etc. It seems people here just make themselves fit no matter how tall or short.
Best of luck!
Kylie

Hi there, I'm 6'-3" and have similar problems. If you buy the sports seats, I don't think that you need to bolt it to the floor and they are side mounted, not florr mounted. You can bolt your V8 seat to the floor no problem and this will help. I have also heard of some people modding the floor slightly as it's raised in this area. I removed the rear spacers and put them on the front. This tilted the seat and did make some improvements. I met a guy at Donnigton this year who was at least 6'-6" if not taller. When he sat in my car, he said he was off home right that minute to do the same to his car which was the same model.
Another thing you can do is have the glass sunroof option as this will give you more height.
You could also change your steering wheel for a smaller one, sometimes this helps.
And lastly, you could have the pedals slightly modified though I will strongly recommend seeking professional advise to make sure you still have to correct travel for each pedal.

Iam in the process of buying some GRP/Kevlar seat shells similar to the sports seats and have them trimmed.

Hope this helps,

Remove the seat rails and get a glass roof if you have head clearence issues. The Esprit seems to have been optimized for people with a Colin Chapman size stature. 5'7"-5'8" ish. Just remember many race car drivers are by the most shorter and leaner than the general populace. I fit in to the car just fine at 5'8" in fact I have the seat moved forward one click on the adjustment.

I think it is quite funny when others owners offer me to drive their cars and see me move the seat forward.

They give me that you are not really going to move the up are you look.

Even in my Europa and Elan days I used to fit fine and my feet fit the pedals fine also. I feel very fortunate not to have the size problems of others.

It is indeed nice to be the same physical size stature of Chapman and the other test drivers who the car was designed around.

To tell you the truth the only time I had somewhat of a problem is in the later model non SE seats. My skinny rear end would slide a bit in the seats during hard cornering and it did not have the form fitting feel of my SE seats.
