Hi, I have just bought a KaRa `Le Mans` kit car and am unable to find out anything about it.

It was built/ registered in 1998 with the chassis plate reading "Le Mans" 1998 004. Built by KaRa and I can only find a KaRa 430 Ford RS replica.

The car is a huge single seater, the width of a Transit and length of a Volvo estate. It has a bespoke stainless box chassis with rear engined Rover V8 spliced onto a Renault UN1 gearbox, Leda suspension all round and aluminium body panels.

It looks very retro/Dick Dastardly with stacked headlamps and wings!

Any information/ history would be really appreciated.

Many thanks, Robin.

The only KaRa I can remember is their RS200 replica, though Steve Hole at totalkitcar.com might be able to provide some info.

I remember seeing a Kara advertised in Kitcar mag about 18 months/2 years ago (it was red, I remember that much!)had a Rover V8 in it I think. Reminiscient of older Lemans prototype sports racers, thought it was a one-off rather than one of a production run - stand to be corrected

Russ Bost you is right!! Probably the same one.
It is red and I have since spoken to the original owner and builder, a guy from Southend.

He was one of the original designers of the KaRa Ford RS200 replica and built this car for himself based loosely on a 1972 Ferrari 312PB Le Mans racer.
When he built it the engine was a Ford Cosworth with a formula 1 gearbox, producing around 440 bhp with a very light aluminium body = fun!
He sold it without the engine and box and the next owner must have put the V8 and UN1 box in.

So, problem resolved(ish). Its a one off in need of lots of tlc having been left outside for at least 2 years. The engine runs but it needs a respray, the brakes and the electrics sorted out and then maybe she will appear on the road again?

I will try and post some pictures later on today to put `meat
on the bones` for some and offer a "good giggle" (most cruel!) for others.

Thanks for the help guys.
