I have a feeling mine is on its way out.... Any ideas what I should expect to pay to get it swapped?

Also, I'm a bit concerned my 1993 964 is running a bit hot. Even with the the brit weather it sits about 1/4 from the red even when i'm taking it easy and the spoiler up. Any thoughts?

Budget around a grand for a clutch change. Seeming as yours is late it should have the LUK flywheel whih is better than earlier models. If you want a more performance / reliable flywheel use either 1989 C4 one or a Carrera RS one.

Gaz is spot on, its about a 1k job. I went for the RS clutch/fly combo and i like it.

Quick running hot checks - have you got enough oil in it, is the spoiler working, is the spoiler curtain ok?

Thanks for the advice fellas.... Anything else I should think about getting done at the same time?

What'll a replacement FW set me back?

I'd advise having the master/slave cylinders inspected while in there. It's a good time to replace them, because should they be faulty it may reduce the life of your new clutch..

Clutch: Is it slipping? I went down the LWF and RS clutch route and love the result.

Temp: Is your oil cooler thermostat and fan working OK? At the temp you're getting, the fan under the front bumper on the right hand side should be blowing (your sill and RH wing should also be hot from the oil that is circulating). The thermostat on the oil cooler fan is an easy diy job, njot too expensive and quite common.

Just done mine.

I would hesitate before advising most owners to do it themselves but if you want to know how email me and I'll send you my no.

Where abouts is your bite point? If it is right at the top of the pedal and the clutch is slipping under power then yes it sounds about dead, but you don't mention what the problem is, if it is just slipping under full throttle standing starts that isn't abnormal for a 964.

With regards to running temp it does sound to be running hot, what oil are you running and have you got enough in? The difference between a full and nearly empty oil tank on mine makes a noticeable difference on the temp gauge. Check the oil cooler, they are cheap and very easy to fit.

By the way the clutch is far cheaper from the US and you can even buy just the friction plate over there which you can't over here.

sounds like the slow speed fan might not be running....could try swapping the blower relay over,,, or check the ceramic resistor on the oil cooler as they get fubared every so often...
