Hi Folks,

would like to modify my griffs front because of a better airflow to the radiator and the brakes. But don´t want to change the look of my 4.3s front air inlet. So what do you think about this solution

http://www.tvr-cars.com/270707.jpg

(ok, it´s a 5 liters front but that picture was the only one i found with the headlamp conversion i´m also going to do. so just imagine the standard 430s air inlet when looking at the pic.)

By the way: Hope that the owner of the griff doesn´t mind that i used his picture to show the mod i have in mind. Does anybody know who he is or perhaps where to get the parts from to do the headlamp mod ?

Many thanks in advance and kind regards

LL

Jerko, if you go for bigger discs (308 or something) and bigger calipers there's no need to cool the brakes. And with the Modwise 2 speed fancontrol you should not have any cooling problems either, that is if your cooling system is in good shape.

You could also go for the smaller front plate from fancyplates.com which also helps with airflow/cooling..

NB I have the headlamp conversion from Webbs and am very happy with it...although it does get a mixed reaction from purists on here.

It makes the front end look very fussy and messy IMO

yes, simple is best when it comes to the griff, the less busy the better.Whenever you 'add' something to the griff it always seems to take away imho.

I've had this light conversion done to mine and love it. I had mine done in Bristol, I think they were called TVR Body shop. I think it makes the front end look a little more agressive and modern. It certanly makes night vision better.

I prefer it to the original yes but I also think that a single Exenon conversion from the existing Halogen would look even better, sort of a mix of the two.

Not on a pre-cat it won't, if it has the original front end.

How are you thinking about getting air from the hole you create to the brakes or rad? I think where you've got it there will just feed into the void underneath the headlight so I can't see it making much difference.

To me those vents look far too small to do any good. You want more flow through the rad, and IMO by far the best way to do this is to not block the whole censored opening with the number plate. Reduce the height of the number plate as far as you can, position it as low as you can, ideally completely below the opening but that may not be practical if you have to cope with speed bumps. Having done that I'd remove the center bar for styling. If you want to increase air flow to the brakes simply strap a deflector onto the front leg of the lower wishbones. But this is a waste of time unless you actually do have a brake overheating problem, and will make the brakes more vulnerable to spray and road dirt. I wouldn't go there unless necessary.

Good points V8S - but the poster, Lastlawyer has a 4.3 precat so the reference to number plates, central bar, etc. are irrelevant for him.

Good point. In that case the obvious answer is to increase the size of the opening along the lines of the later models (and then position the number plate so it doesn't censored block it!).

Good idea, one i have been thinking about also, only problem is finding a workshop with enough skills to do the job (not easy over here).
