Buying property in France
Discussion
Hello!
Any experts out there on buying property in France? I have found a place, buying in cash from an English buyer using a Notaire, what should I be looking out for? Is there a way of doing the deal and exchanging without actually being there? I don't need any special clauses, quite happy buying as it, the surveys have all been done.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mat.

Try the site here for a basic intro

HSBC publish a basic free intro that your local branch may have, but there seem to be a lot of books out there that cover the topic. The costs here are generally a lot more expensive than in the UK on sale/purchase.

Buying property in France can be quite problematic particularly if you don't speak the language. Quite a few sites out there which specialise in selling French property to the Brits. http://www.aplaceinfrance.co.uk/http://www.my-french-house.com/ and http://provenceproperties.co.uk/ to name a few.

We are currently buying a house in France through www.vefuk.com - certainly not cheap, but they aren't just an estate agent!
They have found us exactly what we want from the local estate agents - they deal with all the translations and legal stuff. Great service!
