Cheque: But not in my name
Discussion
Hi all,
I got sent a cheque today but it's not printed to myself. The cheque is for me though, it's from Autosport for the use of a photograph I took.
Will the bank accept this, the cheque has my address on it, but payee is speed-shot.co.uk, a domain I can prove I own, or am I going to have to write to them and ask for another cheque

I think you've got no chance if they spot it going through. Money laundering regs et al. Otherwise anybody would register a domain, pay any old cheques in and fund Al Quaeda. The bank have an obligation to ensure the person gettng the money is real and legit.I got sent a cheque today but it's not printed to myself. Perhaps if you had a small business account 'Fred Bloogs trading as speed shot' for these odd payments?
