What's the best way to adjust your driving for Turbo?
I was driving a Turbo 997 today for the first time and I'm really struggling to time things right for the Turbo lag. If you come up behind someone and are waiting for a good overtaking gap it's weird, you can't start loading up the throttle too soon cos your likely to take of before the gap is right and launch hell for leather at the car in front, but equally when the gap comes you floor the throttle and nothing happens for half a second so you mess up the timing. It's very disconcerting.
Does this just become second nature or are there 'rules'?
And I am a crap driver so this may be a factor.

I haven't driven a turbo porsche let alone a 997, but my last car had quite a bit of turbo lag. If I wanted to overtake safely and quickly I would drop a gear or two to get the revs ~3000 rpm and this would give minimal turbo lag and take off like a scalded cat!

You need a decent flow and volume of exhaust gases to get the turbines spooling quickly hense more the greater the rpm the engine is turning the less lag you likely to find when you depress the fun pedal redfaceD

Agree with Adam from my experience with my 965 and 996TT I would say that when you get used to them you don't spend too much time in the top two gears, stay in the low gears keep the revs up and turbo lag doesnt exist instead you have a very responsive, very fast motor. May not be the right answer for real drivers but works for me.

I have a 997 C2S and have driven a 997TT. In the C2S it's easy but in the 997tt I could not always get it right but I think the trick is to start everything a bit sooner, get the car on the boil sooner and then move up behind the car in front while spinning up the turbo. Once you get to the point of pulling out you'll have the turbo spinning and whoosh - away you go.

In any case you will have an absolutely fantastic time working out how to do it!!!
