MK1 GT3's have NO rear speaker and NO wires to put them in..

MK2 However, have NO rear sepakers, BUT have the wires there to power them up ! So if its a MK2, pop down to the OPC and buy a set of rears with Grills for around £38 each !! Undo the old grills, plug the new speakers in, Screw them in and job done !!

Dan, Mk2's in comfort spec came with rears I think you'll find, well mine has them anyhow.

Mine is a Comfort 2000(MK1), and after speaking to Porsche GB, they told me that the MK1 had no factory option for rear speaker, and an OPC dealer would not install the wiring as it is not Standard..(so the only option would get a car hifi shop)

I think, it was an option on the MK2 Comfort and became standard after production was running for 11 months ??? (not 100% sure, just something I was told)

Karl, yours is a 997 right?

If it's anything like a later 996 GT3 you'll have the wiring, just need to 'convert' the existing pods or buy a pair of populated ones from your OPC.

Here we go again....

I have a 2000 Mk1 and when I popped the rear grilles off 'hey presto' - wires were there.

Ditto.

I sourced some C2 rears from a breakers to provide a much cheapness solution for extended motorway runs when some sounds come in handy. Sound is sufficient for those rare occasions when the exhaust note is not providing the music.

Worse case scenario, it's still an easy job to run speaker cable to the rear. Trim panels snap on and off really easily. Not sure if you will be able to get the standard controls to work with the F/R fader tho, altho' I don't see it being too much trouble. Non standard fader unit not too hard to fit tho'.
As far as the phone module is concerned, surely the cheapest/best fix, is to get something like a Parrot bluetooth fitted. They're great units, and can be fitted without butchering the cars interior.

I have a GT3 question....
I have driven a few 911s now including from 911 sc's, 965, 964, 996, 997 oh and a 3.2 boxster. on the newer 911s ie 996, 997 i didnt find the hadling brilliant i mean they were good, its a porsceh, but i never felt happy say at 130 on a long sweeping corner as i did in the boxster or lotus even ferrari. are the GT3s that much more confidence inspiring than a standard 911?
Or is it all down to 'learning to drive' a 911 and finding its limits on an airfield day etc?

I love 911s but dont keep them for long because of this. Would i be happy with a GT3?(hope so)

Phone module retrofitting is very expensive as if you did not spec it all the wiring has been omitted. I got quoted something in the area of 1k

If it is a PCM 997 - Porsche quoted me 1551inc vat - so I had a separate blue tooth fitted (more importantly)with the mic fitted above the door, far better than the factory mic which is on the steering column and picks up all the vibrations.
