Tim Collins CBE MP (a reply)
Discussion
Now if I could only find a copy of what I sent him......this chap seems to be on the right track
" Mr Best is quite right to say that appropriately sited, appropriately visible speed cameras can and do make a major contribution to making our roads safer. Conservatives also recognise, however, that the most dramatic improvements in driver behaviour occur when motorists are convinced of the fairness and rationality of the restrictions which are placed upon them (which is why I agree strongly with him about the use of public information films). Hidden speed cameras run the risk of encouraging at least some motorists to believe that the authorities are simply "out to get them" and breed a contempt for restrictions which is deeply counter-productive to the need for safety. Accordingly, Conservatives will continue to campaign for speed cameras to be well-sited and visible, and used soley as ameans of improving road safety rather than as yet another "stealth tax"."
I notice he refers to them as 'speed' not 'safety' cameras, not a bad reply methinks.

Hate to have to agree but yep. There are a few good eggs in parliament (very few), and he might be one of them, but I would be interested to see what kind of response you'd get writing a letter from a different name and address within his constituency (if poss.) saying how marvellous speed camera are and can we have more if the Tories get back in power.
