I think you've got the wrong end of the stick here. It isn't a Speed 12.
When TVR originally released the 4.5, it was going to be called the GT. In the end, they just called it the 4.5, and the original Cerbera the 4.2.
Not sure what this "one of only 10 built" thing is though, as I've seen more than 10 4.5s.
that's all it is. a 98 4.5 Cerbie.

Just had a look at the advert on autotrader - they must think it's pretty special £35k for a 98R

A mate of mine was one of the first customers to order the GT version back in 96 when first announced, eventually TVR told him that the GT was not to be and offered his deposit back or option to transfer to the new 4.5 model which he did , he had no 9 apparently and all i can say is that it went like 5h1t of a shovel, much quicker than the later cars, with the standard exhaust would create a huge rasp at 7000 rpm not unlike a Tuscan racer. apart from that the car was a normal Cerbera.

mmmm......so special that they had to put on the 18" Sypders and the newer twin lights rather than the old single round light. More than a bit hopeful me thinks!! or they are getting all
a bit more like it !! The 'GT 'cars were due to be built in 97 and delivered late 97 and were going to have a dry sumped engine and other trick parts. However the GT project was cancelled and the first few cerberas 10 or so got the benefit of different manifolds and exhaust systems, made from oval stainless steel pipes, with small cats positioned well down the exhaust system when compared to later cerbera 4.5's.If the cars still have the same manifolds and exhaust systems up to and including the cats they certainly rev more freely and breathly more freely than a standard later build 4.5.
All the rest of the equipment was standard 4.5

I think the car that 2sheds refers to may be the one I bought last week!
The former owner tells me that this is car No 9 and he had originally put down a deposit for the GT at the motorshow in 96. Some months later TVR informed him that the GT was not to be and he was offered either a full refund or a 4.5.
Had no idea of any differences between this car and the later ones, in fact, I'm rather excited now
So, I need to take a closer look at my exhaust manifolds to see if are is any differences. If anyone knows of any other possible differences please let me know.
I did notice that my car is running 255 rear and 235 front tyres. I'm sure the others I looked at had 245s.
I wonder if there is any difference in BHP????????
(heres hoping!)

255 is right for the back wheels. I cant help but feel many people label some of the experimental Cerberas as GT's. Having seen what came off our front suspension when we upgraded to some adjustable jobbies some could argue ours is a GT
.It seems to me that the early cars had certain little things that TVR decided against on the later cars.
A 98 isnt one of the earlier cars, so it cant be a GT if such a car exists. The whole GT thing IMHO is just a rumour that people have twisted and got all excited about. Wasnt there something about carbon fibre panels too?? Anyway, we have an early 4.5 (97'car) which had an odd front suspension set up. As for power, ours is pretty much your average 4.5, which is what it was sold to us as.
The engine size is the same, the panels are the same, the power is the same. The GT's, as far as im aware dont exist. Any cars that have odd suspension parts etc are just early development cars.

if your looking at the car in the picture i'm 99% certain that this one was crashed but some chaps wife and it was in Webbs body shop getting rebuilt hence the new lamps etc. It is a different car to the normal 4.5 as jason at webbs told me the exhaust system is different and alot of other chassis parts as well. apparently there were just 10 build, most were for racing hence the different chassis set up.
For a car that's had a prang i'd say it was a little steep!
