brief outages on gassing station

I've noticed over the past few weeks that the gassing station seems to completely lock up for a couple of minutes from time to time. Perhaps once a day or once a couple of days. Symptoms are that trying to load a page I get a blank screen for a couple of minutes and then the page appears as normal. If I am trying to open multiple pages they all freeze, and all resume together. I've confirmed that I can still ping www.pistonheads.com with a nice low response time and no errors so I doubt it's a DNS/network/transport issue and my guess would be that it is a problem within the web server. I don't know if PH Inc does any web service monitoring but if they do hopefully it is picking this up.

We are running monitoring trying to narrow down these problems, I agree they are server specific problems (as pinging just goes to the load balancer). We are now in the position to put in several things that will speed up the website over the next few weeks so hopefully you will see an improvement to the service.

For reference, it's still happening and is now becoming the norm rather than the exception.
