have just put a new battery bin the Griffith after a period of not much use (about 5 weeks) and a finally dead battery. Cranking well but not firing at all......the 1st time have had a problemstarting in 6 years! Am no mechanic and don't have Steve Heath's 'bible' to hand but i am thinking starter motor. Is this easy enough for a DIY job? + what starter motor do i need....if it's something I can pick up from Halfords or somewhere similar, and if it is easily accessable might have a crack at it myself! Am in Dublin now and this is the first time anything has gone wrong.....a bit too far away from David Batty!!
Thanks for advice

The job of the starter motor is to crank the engine well.
You say that it is doing exactly that
Why do you suspect you need to replace it?
If it is cranking well, but not firing at all you probably have a lack of either fuel or sparks reaching the engine.
As the power has been removed from the alarm, it may not be syncronised correctly and therefore not allowing your fuel pump to opperate.
Have a listen for the fuel pump opperating properly and follow the alarm syncronisation proceedure to be sure.
