Heading for the Eurotunnel on Saturday and when past the last camera (no realising it was there) on the A2 just before the speed turns to the national limited.
Q) Does anyone know if the last camera south bound on the A2 is working?
Q) Speedo idicated that if I had been speeding I would have been a cruising at 75-80 in what may have been a 50 limit - what would the penalty be if one was found to be above the limit?
Q) I am on an Irish licence - although no points I am sure it will mean a court appearance - any chance of getting away with driver training.
Finally, I missed the god damn train. Was not even rushing for it but why that stretch of road is a 50 i will never know.

You do now, surely?
Like countless other stretches of perfectly good dual carriageway, it's had its limit reduced from 70 to 50 in the last 15 years, and it just so happens that cameras first came in 15 years ago. Even reading a site like PH, it's pretty difficult to comprehend the scale of the spite towards motorists here until you actually drive regularly in this forsaken isle. It's absolutely disgusting. I don't know the figures but I wouldn't be surprised if scamera pratnershits stole more per year than other scumbags like robbers. And they do steal. Nasty, thieving, conspiring little bastards who are pretty near the lowest of the low. The fact that their behaviour is currently permitted by law doesn't make it any more morally defensible. Just because the government (especially this horrible lot) say something's OK, doesn't mean it is. I feel more like fluffnik every day.
Anyway, since you're on a foreign licence it's pretty likely that you'll never hear anything. This is because the whole system is operated to make money and it's not profitable to chase people in other countries, especially since they can't be given fixed penalties. If you keep triggering cameras then you might end up being stopped by the police, but by and large they don't care as they're too busy picking on the easy targets (us Brits).
Besides, assuming it's a "normal" Gatso then it would have been difficult (not impossible) for you to have missed the bright flashes which are 0.5 seconds apart. Also was it in the central reservation? If so, and you were driving towards it instead of away, it couldn't have got you as they're not type-approved to nab you in that direction. Finally if it really was put in such a vexatious position (just before it changes to NSL on the way to the Eurotunnel) then I would imagine that it gets LOADS of people (especially in the summer) and it may well therefore have been out of film (although it would still have flashed). I believe that Gatso films have 400 shots (i.e. 200 "offences", of which a tiny percentage probably involve anyone genuinely going too fast).
Cameras kill people. The scum that run them are murderers, thieves and compulsive liars. It may possibly only have been manslaughter before, but now they know what's happening, it's murder. DfT should get rid of the cameras now but they would rather save face than save lives. No dictator, however oppressive, has ever knowingly abused his road users to such an extent. It's appalling, and every day the murder toll rises. These heartless bastards have no shame. It almost makes me sad that there's no God because they so deserve to go to Hell. Perhaps we should bring capital punishment back all the same, just for them, so they get a taste of their own medicine: state-sanctioned murder. It would save lives in the long run because there'd be no-one left to run the killing regime, and I somehow doubt that anyone would want to replace them (their own lives being so much more precious than those of the road users in question).
It's time for us all to do something to force them to listen. Think what we could do if everyone contributed. We owe it to ourselves and our fellow road users. This sick, twisted policy must stop NOW.

A
If it is the one just before a double bend (around Bexley) about 1/2 mile before NSL applies before the M25 roadworks going southbound then yep, I guess it is working. The two previous ones (again, on the 50 limit stretch) have been burned some time ago
and seem still inoperative.
They are not on the central reservation but on the nearside.
