AUSTRALIAN IMPORT OF PARTS?
Discussion
Following the recent threads over uk 'consumable' parts pricing I wondered if we have a friendly Australian dealer or Aussie member who could find our the real prices of some of the key spares locally....
i.e. how much for the following
6L VXR Disks Front (Part 92210646)- UK RRP £424.18 (inc vat - per disk)
6L VXR Disks Rear (Part 92210656) - UK RRP £470.00 (inc vat - per disk)
6L VXR Pads Front (Part 92210656) - UK RRP £171.55 (inc vat - axle set)
6L VZR Pads Rear (Part 92210659) - UK RRP £123.38 (inc vat - axle set)
I wonder if there might be an opportunity here for a group buy, if these bits are prohibitively expensive in the uk?
There must be something wrong with above uk pricing as a set of disks and pads would cost the same as a new complete set of ap's.

have to check dimensions etc for a fair comparison but by my reckoning they are under 60 quid a disc.

same thing but different supplier and worth noting the 05 and later are around double the cost making them around 100 quid a disc. Assume they are more like standard discs used here?

How crap is that?
How crap is that?
That is actually the case with them over here in Oz.
This is my third go at typing this out!
£424 doesn't sound too bad for the VXR discs but then I realised it was each!..mmm....no comment
The prices mentioned above from the US would be for the non VXR cars. (ie 1 and 2 below) as I don't think they got any of the HSV brake items on their cars.
As far as I can work out, you had 3 different brake set-ups over there,
1. The V2 series III Monaro (I will call this one Big-boot from now on)
2. VZ Monaro (No-boot) had a newer slightly bigger brake set-up 320x32? discs
3. I think all your VXR's got the same brake set-up. 330x32mm discs I don't think you had any delivered with the AP racing set-up. You will have to measure them, also see if they have the PBR logo on the actual disc.
1. Big-boot has the easiest brakes to get hold of as they were on nearly every commodore VT-VZ commodore. Prices vary depending on where and how you get hold of them $200 up to $600 for a set of 4 discs front and back. ) Pads - Holden Police pads ones (PBR ones) are about $200 a set of four. Others Bendix Ultimates front and back $280 or Ferodo Formulas (close to the DS2500 pad) are $330
2. No-boot is a bit harder to find on the net! $800ish for 4 discs. Pads i am not sure about.
3. VXR versions front discs $600 to $800 for the front pair and $600 to $800 for the rear pair. So $1200 to $1600 for the set. Pads finding it hard to find prices online for this. A place of interest might be jhp. They sell the complete set-up from the HSV which is made by PBR for US$1850 approx £910 front back discs pads calipers lines etc. It is identical to the HSV stuff except it has a little PBR sticker on the caliper and not HSV. This is a common upgrade in Oz especially as it is OEM stuff anyway. They can be had in Black red or Yellow from memory.
