Hi all, I currently own a 986 Boxster S, and bring quite tall (6'4) find the leg room a bit tight, especially the left leg between the steering wheel and the centre console.

I would like to ugrade this to an early 996 fairly soon and am interested to know if the seat would move further back or if there would be any more room than in the Boxster.

Anyone have experience of both cars ?

Cheers.

Yes, there is a bit more space in the 996 IIRC

I think the seats push back further in the 996 simply due to the space behind - apart from that they're identical.

Hi,
I'm the same size as you and can't fit in the Boxster,
but I can now fit ok in my 996. As previous post, gt3 console
delete kit is the way to go as it significantly increases the
room between left leg and wheel.I fitted mine myself and it took
about an hour. Very clear instuctions with pictures on Renntech
forum, just search console delete in the 996 section.

Hi James.....off topic mate.....but you bought my old E30 M3!! How is she doing?!! Great to see a pic of her in your profile!

Funily enough, I bought a Boxster as well. I am 6'1 and a half" and fit just about OK into all Porkers!!

Hello,

I'm 6 foot 6, wanted a Boxster but couldn't fit in it, so bought a 350Z instead.

3 years later, now running a 996 and fit in OK, so would conclude the 996 is slightly more roomy.

Thanks for the info, I guess I will have to try one for size...

Good to hear from you John, the old girl is still excellent.

She's moved on a bit from when you last saw her - 245 bhp, airbox, 284 schricks, Leda Coilovers, Recaro buckets, half cage...She gets used a lot on the track now, and so far hasn't missed a beat.

Here is a pic from 19th July at the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit...if you can give me your email address i'll send you a few others and tell you a bit more about her.

Cheers,

Since the 996 and the 986 have the same body A pillars forward, as well as the same dashboard (and I wonder, probably the same doors as well?), is the extra space in the 996 just because the seats slide back more?
