Would need some advice. I run a standard 450HP American Speed engine in my GTR.
The alternator which was supplied by AS seems to be a cheap, low quality component, used on early Corvettes. Also the way it is fixed to the motor is not ideal (I don´t understand anything about cars and engines but my mechanic is desparate...). I had already 2 breakdowns within the first 5.000km and want to replace it now by some top-quality, high-performance part. Can anybody advise on a suitable part which would fit without too many modifications? Any photos available of an improved alternator configuration? Especially concerning the fixings and the belt?
Thank you,
Peter

The fixing method is not ideal as the alt. is not normally mounted low down.

The best outfit with a 74 amp alternator with a low mount that is not to low (they call it mid mount) is East Coast Electric in the US.
www.ecae.com/kits.html They dont have a picture of the appropriate one, but they have a kit for 350 US that works with the Ultima, even with the hard shift linkage.
Hope this helps.
