Interesting that he got away with that. Any idea why? I doubt even a 'nice' copper would let 110mph go...

I had a cop let me off for 110 on the M61 late one night a while ago. I didnt even get a producer, he just said 'I know there is not many other people around but try and keep your speed under the ton. consider this your lucky day' I couldnt beleive it!

Must admit I've had a "monitored for just over a mile between 110 and 116" on the M25 slap wrist and told "keep it under the ton". It does happen with real coppers in the real world just not with cameras !!!!

They're not all bad then. I was given the opportunity to explain why I was speeding, but my mind went blank. No lecture from him, no sermon, just "please be careful next time, *sir*".

If only they were all that courteous, it would be such a nicer place to drive.

been let off for going rather fast on the M25 (at about 3:00am) - the bike cop was very nice, said he understood but not to do it again, chatted about the car a bit and off he went - not even a producer!

Ive had some lucky scrapes when I was a younger reckless youth (not that long ago!) I know better now, but :
I over took 4 cars in one go toward a blind bend, pulled in AFTER the double whites started, (was straddling middle)
came to an small island, turned right, overtaking on the LEFT on approach and another round the island on the outside, 100 yds, lights, went in the turn right only, to pass 4 more cars going straight on, cut in as they went green, two more on the next straight, then was caught up by a white carlton, (was in the middle of the FIRST four), bluse lights in grill, 4 police in it. was told he was on a high speed training lesson and I was a great aid to there training, but didnt have time to ticket me, and let me go!!!

if I was a cat, I lost a life there!!

S2ooz, I don't normally comment on other peoples antics as I am no angel.

But you really deserved a nicking, and what you described was stupid. Sorry mate, but if you were in a car, it was dangerous to others. Maybe if you were on a bike, atleast it would only be you who got killed.

Lucky you got off, indeed. Be carefull out there !

There are good boys-in-blue out there!
Got stopped in summer with my german regd AudiS4 doing well over 100mph, plod stopped me with his Subaru junk (which to my shame I never saw even if he was in dayglo colours!). Was offered and paid fixed penalty because his "speedo read only 99mph!!" Good on yer, mate!
Also back in 1975 got stopped in Lancashire doing 135mph (again with german reg) and he spoke sternly to me (m-way was empty) and let me continue my race for the ferry! Also good on yer mate!
There are some humans amongst them!

Sometimes you are let of just because the check was unreliable i.e below the min distance on a VASCAR check (we do have rules you know) or it could be we have got a call to another job and don't have time to write the ticket. Years ago when I was doing my training to use VASCAR you had to go out and use the device fo 30 hrs after the initial training before you could actually report people for speeding, so durring that time I for one let loads of 'lucky' people off, most coldn't believe it either (certainly made a few friends that month)
