where is the chassis plate and what does it tell me, also where is the engine number

Lift the bonnet and the chassis plate is found on the left hand side at the front of the car, the engine number and body code will be on it aswell.

Engine number is on the RHS of the block, at the front on the casting thats for the Oil pump, water pump etc. <-- does that make sense?
