Just a heads up to anyone driving a TD5, the other day my crank pulley decided to give up the ghost.Luckily I realised before any major damage occured

Yes I have seen this before a few times, some with real bad consequences.

In the factory these pulley bolts are thread locked and tightened up to a very high torque.

You normally see problems when the pulley has been removed to change the crank seal and the technician does not have the torque expander required to tighten it up correctly.

You MUST ALWAYS use a new bolt if you remove the pulley.
