tomtom 700 usa map problems

Ive just purchased a usa maps download from tomtom direct to go on my 700, when I try to download it firstly tells me it is for a 710 or a 910 only, which concerns me as I defo ordered it for the 700, secondly when I try to download anyway it tells me I have insufficient memory space ie 1.4 gb needed, I then back up my european maps and delete them from my tomtom,my memory space is still staying exactly the same and im being told again cannot download insufficient memory space even though ive deleted all euro maps which are also 1,4 gb, can anyone advise as it is *issing me off.

Is your Go 700 software up to date? As I don't believe all maps, especially the latest will work if the software is not current. I didn't realise myself until recently that major software updates were free. So this is worth checking.
I don't know if this is related to your other issue or not though.
