Hello all.. does it matter if the front / back brake discs are changed at different times ? Or should all be changed at the same time ?
Thanks

I changed only the fronts on mine last year, rears to be done this year; with no crys from the main dealer carrying out the work saying they should all be done at the same time. And I've had no problems since with new disc/pads on the front, and worn on the rear.

absolutely no need to change front and rear at same time, unless of course they both happen to require it

Thanks for the response guys.

Was talking to my Neighbour who actually used to work on Ferrari/Maserati and his view was that as long as the pads are changed regularly then there shouldn't be any reason to change the discs ?

Anyone shed any light on this ?

Front disc's are 32mm thick when new and need replacing at 30mm. The standard pads are quite disc abrasive but there are pads available (EBC Red from needforspeed.com) which are non abrasive with zero disc wear. The pads wear at twice the speed, but at half the price of OEMs who cares. I have used EBC REDS for some years now and when warm I found them better than OEMs but when cold beware!!!!!

If you need new disc's there are 3 routes you can take, 1) Buy OEM at loads of money. 2)Tarrox will make a set for you (I hear the Lambo boys take this route for approx half the price of OEM) or 3) you can contact David Askew (http://web.onetel.net.uk/~davidaskew/maserati/contact.htm) and see if he has any nearly new disc's from a write off. Ps he is a good source for those other parts which take an age to arrive from Italy.

They are easy to fit and you can pay yourself £100 per hour for the priviledge!

Hope this helps.
