I'm curious as to the cost of this sort of thing, any ideas?

Also, how long does the shine last? Ie one spot of rain and it's back to square one or is it more a case of being much easier to clean each time?

I think I might post in the dedicated forum and get a better idea.

wavey You're looking at around £350 for a Cerbera. Paul worked on the car for about 11 hours all told, so its a full day!

As I only had it done last Thursday, I can't comment first hand on how long it lasts, but it still looks as good as it did last Thursday and I have done 360 miles in it, including lots of rain on saturday night. It is still gleaming. Obviously it could do with a wash now, but as I understand it from Paul - it will be a lot easier to maintain the gleaming just waxed look.

Because part of the work involves restoring the paint - I suppose if you think about, that is going to last a fair while, not disappear overnight...... Seem to have in my head that it's a once a year job, but not sure where that came from!

I will be up at Rockingham at the weekend with said chariot, so if you're there you can examine it for yourselves smile. I should say, that it wasn't the tidiest paintwork to start with, but it really does look as good as it can do now.

Maybe, but look at it this way - it will be much easier to clean now, so lessons won't need to last too long! wink

£350 squid on a polish!!!

£350 squid would have bought a decent spraygun, paint and a compressor to spray the car with.

Then you could have done what I do. Clean it twice a year, if it needs it.

And every so often clear your own stone chips. smile

Tried that on my very first car (it was full of dents and scratches). Trust me, afterwards you'd need a bit more than £350 to have someone make the paintwork all smooth and shiny again (about 160 hours with 1500 grit sandpaper and a rotary buffer should do it, provided the clearcoat layer was put on thick enough). wink

Have already done it twice on my car smile.
The only problem is that you have to do it in a controlled temperature/humidity to stop having to do the rubbing down thing afterwards.
We only get outside weather like that in this country a handful of days a year, but luckily my garage can do the job in most of the drier summer weather with a bit of prep. Its not quite as difficult to get a perfect job done as the scare stories would have you believe.
