Monthly Meet PH Warks & West Mids NEW VENUE?
Discussion
Ashby wll be quite busy I should think and you need to get there early to secure a place in the cricket ground, I dont have any pub suggestions that would work to our advantage
The ones that wouldn't work to our advantage is the Woodman, Foxton Locks and Meriden
Sorry i sound like a grumpy cow
also happy to travel

Happy to travel.
One idea...has the Duck on the Pond (N. of Southam on the A423...forget the village's name) got tables out-front?!?
It's a fussy food place not really for drinking, but that sort of layout would be great. Let's face it with the smoking ban most establishments have invested in new outdoor furniture so it shouldn't be too difficult. One idea...has the Duck on the Pond (N. of Southam on the A423...forget the village's name) got tables out-front?!?
There are a few places.
The Waterman at Hatton on a Tuesday would be fine. Plenty of space and you can sit outside. The Falcon, just a bit further down the road is the same, but it's being refurbished at the moment
The Green Man in Kenilworth (opposite the Shell station) has loads of outside seating. Just not sure if it's suitable enough.
There's always the Bulls Head at Meriden
Cheers

How about the Red Lion at Hunningham. (CV33 9DY)
It's right at the centre point of Coventry, Leamington and Southam. Nice relaxed country Pub and good food if you want it too. Easy access for many and a nice secluded car park with outside seating aswell
I used to go there quite a lot for work lunches. Really nice place.

I thought I would add that it was just an idea for the summer months as the Windmill seems full of golfers at the moment and the car park is a little far from the bar/outside tables.
The nearer the original venue the better really to keep attendance up.
So the newly refurbished White Horse at Balsall Common would be no use then? I noticed on the way back from the Bull tonight that it has a great outside seating area overlooking the front car park..........The nearer the original venue the better really to keep attendance up.
My thoughts so far are: -
Waterman at Hatton - Great location with top driving roads nearby but will Coventry folk come out that far?
Revolver at Bishops Tachbrook - Same as Waterman
Red Lion at Hunningham - Great pub/carpark but it's a bit off the beaten track for the navigationally challenged
Cross at Kenilworth - I don't know it personally
White Horse at Balsall Common - Looks good but location again for Coventry folk?
It has amazed me that so many people on PH are unwilling to travel to meets. The row about the Midlands Sunday Service was unbelieveable.
I will happily go anywhere that the majority will be happy with. My cars are here to be driven!

The Cross @ Kenilworth is in the old part of the town, at the bottom of the 'Kenilworth Road' so to speak, so about 15 mins max from Cov Station at night (not that I drive this regularly or anything
)
It is great for food, and has a 'nice' car park. You can't see all of it from the outside bit, but you can the bottom bit, and there are generally 'nice' cars there.
Balsall Common is further.
There are loads of others this side - The Punchbowl at Lapworth for instance, but if people want local to Cov, then I can't help much more.
Certainly, the areas I do know this side I would not recommend. Earlsdon has some great pubs, but no parking.

I'm one of the Cov lot and I'm quite happy to go to any...or to Ashby Folville.
If the Red Lion is the one I'm thinking of (just by a stone bridge over a stream) the back-road there (right off the A423 just before Fosse Way) is one hell of a B-road!!!
So pick a place and I'll find the most fun route there...
