I'm looking to buy a 3 series touring for the wife and kids. ITs not a company car will be a private purchase. Mileage will be low, I'm guessing it will do 8K/year. So do I buy the 320d or stay with petrol. I don't think the fuel economy is going to come into it but rather how much value each car holds, Do diesels generally have a higher resale value?
Thanks

As the diesel is almost £2K more expensive to buy, the petrol version will certainly be cheaper overall with such low mileage. The diesel only starts to make sense at well over 10K miles per year. Resale values are strong for both petrol and diesels. You will have no problem selling a low mileage 320i
