What would you do?

You've entered into a non championship race, and because your a novice and have never been to the curcuit before your really pleased that you managed to qualify 8th for the heat race, which means your in with a shout of getting to the final. As you line up on the grid you notice that (a) your on the inside of the curcuit and (b) there are five cars directly in front of you. This means you've been lined up in 11th place. You finish 9th and don't get to the final. What would you do? or should have done?

You should make sure you know which cars are meant to be around you before you go into the assembly area. If you are put in the wrong place, get out of the car and sort it out with the nearest coordinator. In short - chalk it up to experience, it's too late once it's over.

I think you have no chance of retro complaint its just too late now, its a bitch but forget it.

you could complain to the msa or marshals society but dont expect ANY joy coz the msa dont give a toss about things that dont alow them to look good!!

First get yourself in the right place in the assembly area and question your position with a marshall straight away if your not.

If you know you should be 8th on the grid you drive upto row 4 inside lane regardless of what the marshalls want. Its your job to get your grid position after all. If this means you sit next to the guy parked in P8 so they can't start the race then so be it. Someone will soon come over and start shouting then you tell them like it is and all will be resolved. But you must do this as you line up for the grid, if you bottle it, tough luck I'm afraid. After the fact is too late in motor racing.

I didn't make a fuss cos it was the 40th anniversary Formula Vee festival race at Brands Hatch, and, being new to it I wasn't completely sure I was right, but mostly, it was just a festival race for fun against invited German and Irish Vees and I didn't want to spoil it for others.

Being your first race I can appreciate the element of self doubt, but as previously mentioned, if you have any doubt, the assembly area is the place to get it sorted without much fuss.
