Windscreen wiper coverage

Can anyone tell me what the rules are regarding windscreen wipers. I have a K1 Attack with a single wiper and first attempts at a set up haven't given me a very good arc on the windscreen. The only reference I can find in the SVA mentions an adequate area for the driver, are there more details that I have missed or does anyone know what adequate actually means.

I had a kit car fail an MOT because the wiper blade didn't go far enough across the windscreen - from memory it needed something like under 20mm from the edge of the windscreen (they let me move it while I was there).
What happens the other side, I don't know
I know my Aeon won't have any problem with its single wiper, because I'll be sitting in the middle.

The MOT guy had a pop at my Quantum on it's last MOT because the tax disc was outside of the sweep area of the wipers. Not by much, he asked me to move the tax disc rather than the wiper, and gave a rough hand general area of where it was expected.
Safe to say, that was most of the windscreen, I think he said the wipers should clear over 70%....? I was pulling at the tax disc holder at that point, so I'm not 100% sure.
He suggested I get larger wiper blades than the Mk2 Fiesta ones, even though it's the same windscreen...
And they'd go past the edge of the windscreen... :confusedevenmoresmiley:
In quite a few MOT's I've had of other Quantums, with the same set up, I've never had that problem before.

Tax Disk inside the wiper coverage area ? - Thats a new one !
None of my Kit cars have had the Tax disk in an area of screen swept by the wipers. Anyone else heard of this ?
Going back to when I SVA'd the Stylus, I seem to remember that the wipers had to sweep the majority of the area in front of the driver, Check the SVA manual !
