Well.... they sort of dont. The victory wheelers who are a mostly yank tank group have a gettogether every year all weekend. Mostly at hayling island, and then Thorney for a couple of years. "health and safty - stop enjoying yourselves boys" got to hear about it and its all off now. This year was at broadlands but no drag race bit. I only went to Thorney one for the drag race bit, but sadly its off now. Dont know of any southern drag racing? Any ideas?

Thorney is still something to do with the army/airforce so security is the issue.

I know a couple of my mates attended at Broadlands a few weekends back and had a good time but no more drag racing I'm afraid. Shame as I did the whole weekend piss up and drag racing for 3 years running and had a great time.

not if it's properly organised!.. e.g. airstrip/track event on @ RAF Wattisham tomorrow

I know one of the chaps who organises it. The main reason for it no longer being at thorney is because the army doubled their price to hold it there. Also it was only intended to be a small event but it (as you know) got very popular and grew almost too large for the wheelers to arrange who arrange all this in their spare time.

Massive shame as the atmosphere was awesome there. I didn't bother with broadlands, just wouldn't be the same with a drive around the air strip and a thrap up the 1/4.
