There seem to be a few of these. It's about they're collated together in a single thread:
I've just picked this one from another post - got the annoying throttle delay on an E46? This resets the adaptive throttle and gives crisp response:
Turn your car off for ten seconds (if started).
2: Then turn the key to the on position for ten seconds, but DO NOT start.
3: Then turn the car off for ten seconds.
4: Then start the car.
I'm assuming everyone knows that keeping the open button pressed will open the windows and likewise with the close button.
There's a way to adjust the speed sensitive stereo volume, but this escapes me currently.
Anyone know of any other gems or anything to add to the above?

I've only just bought an E46 and picked it up yesterday. I've actually done the RTFM bit so I've found out about then window/sunroof open/close function.
I've also found out about the cruise control 'memory' and without the manual I don't think I'd ever have sussed that.
I'll be watching this thread with great interest.

Any FBW throttle will be reset using the procedure above.
Some more (not all written by me)
If you have Navigation,
3D Perspective mode (mk4 only), Perspective mode needs to be enabled in 2 places,
1: In the arrow map pointing menu and
2: The hidden setup menu.
Go to the menu screen select set (or settings) and hold menu button for 10
seconds, when the hidden menu appears scroll down untill the perspective mode
option is selectable.

Setting the Nav volume: Press info, and goto the TP volume setting and adjust up or down and required.

TMC: Does your tmc logo (middle bottom of screen) go green or go gray then red?
If green you need to turn TMC on,
Too turn on the TMC goto the info button (top right) and select tmc and use classic fm as the TMC channel.
If red then map disc is not TMC enabled.

Pressing the close button on the remote (twice) will lock the car and disable the movment sensor inside the car.

Resetting the Service or brake fluid lights:
Note, does not not work on all models (E46 and e39, mostly)
Does not do airbag light or similar.
1) ignition off
2) push & hold in left button (daytrip reset)
3) while holding in, turn ignition key into pos.1
4) keep holding button pushed in while "test 1" appears in display
5) after a further appr. 5 seconds oil service/inspection will appear (whichever is due)
6) release button when oil service/inspection are displayed
7) pushing and holding in the button for appr. 5 secs will reset the service interval
8) release button and switch off ignition. When restarting interval should be reset
For the brake fluid follow points 1) to 6) accordingly and then proceed as follows:
7) when oil service/insp. is displayed one short push of the "day trip" button will change the display to "brake fluid"
8) when "brake fluid" message is displayed, push in and hold button for appr. 5 secs, which then will reset the brake fluid interval.
9) release button and switch off ignition. On restart the brake fluid clock symbol should be gone.
If i remember more I'll add them later.

I believe you can have the door locks adjusted to lock automatically when you pull away. Not sure how though, the handbook said to go to the dealer.
Also, you can have it so that only opens the drivers door on the first click and then the rest on the 2nd click.
Does the e46 also have 'follow you home' headlights' that stay on for a bit after you lock the car?

Yes, turn on normally means p1.position 0, (stage 0) no key in or key in nothing else.
position 1, (stage 1) accessory circut, like to turn on the radio.
position 2, (stage 2) full ignition, lights up most of the dash lights and heater/AC etc.
position 3, (stage 3) is spring loaded to start the car

Most of these have to be coded onto your keys by a dealer, however it's pretty cool when you go to open the car after the missus has been driving and find the seat sliding to your preferred position along with the radio, heating, mirrors etc defaulting to your own personal settings.

all of these are iDrive options. Also, you can have it so that only opens the drivers door on the first click and then the rest on the 2nd click.

If you have a convertible, holding the key in the door lock at open or close will open/close the roof too.
Certain cars will also be able to drop or raise the roof from the key (keep button held down) but it seems that BMW took this ability away at some point.
Folding mirrors will fold up at the same time if fitted.

The coding of E46s is all over the place with main dealers at the moment.
Just had mine recoded for a variety of things - real PITA to come out of that is that the door windows won't close one-touch if they're open, and stop closing one-touch if you open. Minor thing but immensely irritating as you can't pull up, open the door as you close the windows.
Other oddity is that the E46 saloons cannot, I'm told by BMW, have their mirrors programmed to fold on the alarm, or dip NS in reverse - yet both of these can be done on the coupe and vert. Strange, and annoying, given they use identical control modules.
