I need new tyres all round so i checked out toyo.SO2 are zr rated front and rear. But toyo dont do a zr rated front! On the new rating format they do a v @ 149mph.But after speaking to Toyo UK they are bringing out a W rated equiv to ZR in 4 days specifically for Chim/Grffith.So has anyone fitted the V= VR rated and if so does this invalidate your insurance???Plus anybody got any feed back on the new Goodyear or Falken/Federal that BMW M3 run on and are cheaper than Toyo with v.similar tread pattern. Are we sheep and buy Toyo cos TVR recommend them this year wot about last year and next year Baaaa. And why dont Toyo give TVR owners a discount then??

Old news and done quite a bit in the archives. I spoke to TOYO and they said that the V rated tyre was fine for tyhe Griff. I spoke to my insurance company and they confirmed (orally) that they were also fine with them being fitted.

I can't comment on your sheep question. I think people buy TOYOs because they perform pretty well and are competetively priced, not because TVR supply Tuscans wearing them.

As for the discount, you don't buy tyres direct from TOYO, so how would they offer a discount to TVR owners? They are already cheaper than most of the alternatives....

I've always liked Goodyears and would chose them over anything else.

Saying that I do have S03's on my Chimaera.
Bridgestone and Firestone are the same company, in the early 90's the Firestones were known as ditch finders and many Ford Sierra's ended up in ditches because of the tyres.

The Firestones on the Explorers suffered from seperation and I've seen a couple of web sites, one from a lexus owner and one from a BMW owner (in Australia I think) that have had treads start to come off SO2's

That's when I decided to go for the S03's on my Chimaera.

Having never tried Toyo's I'd prefer having the well known Goodyear brand.
If their tyres are good enough for the LeMans Corvettes they can't be that bad

Lee.

Tuscans came fitted with Avons not so long ago, you could try them. Most people prefer Bridgestones SO 2 or SO 3 but Toyo is a good tyre at a fair price

I'm running Toyo's all round on my Chim (including the V rated 15" front) - excellent tyre's. Also have note from insurance company OK'ing this. They have proved progressive with excellent hanlding wet or dry. Fairly sensitive to tread depth and start to go off when overheated on track.
